Match the Peg – Busy Bag Activity for Preschoolers

This is a simple activity for preschoolers. Easy to make & great for busy bags. We use this at restaurants & doctors office waiting room.. πŸ‘

What are busy bags?

Busy bags are simple activities that your kids can do independently or with less supervision, stored in a bag that is easy to pack or pull out when they want to play with. They are great when your at the restaurants, waiting rooms or for quiet times at home (like that’s ever gonna happen πŸ˜‚). Just pull out the busy bag and keep your kids engaged.

What you need

  • Craftsticks
  • Clothespin
  • Acrylic Paint

How to

  • Paint the craftsticks with Acrylic colors. Let it dry. You could also use colored craftsticks.
  • Paint the same colors on the clothespin. Let it dry.
  • Let your preschooler clip the clothespin to the matching craftstick.

Using the clothespin helps develop fine motor skills. My almost 3 yr old was excited to use the clothespin. She had some difficulty in handling it & we’re working on it πŸ˜€ This is not a good activity for toddlers. Tried it with mine and she pulled the clothespin into two. πŸ˜‚

Put everything in a ziploc or a clear pouch and your busy bag is ready. You could also make a color wheel (laminate it for reuse) or use the paint chips (you could find in hardware stores for free) and ask your kids to match with the coloured clothespin. πŸ‘

Hi!! Im Lavanya, stay at home mom of 3 & 2 yr old girls.. My LOs are very active and they need various activities to keep them busy and interested. A monotonous play bores them easily.. Hence, I've started to explore & create activities to keep them occupied - fun & some learning.. This blog is my maiden attempt where you can find simple crafts and learning activities for kids. If you like my page share it with your friends. Also tell me what you think in the comments. πŸ˜€ Thanks for stopping by!!
