Silly straws & Felt – Fine Motor Activity

This activity is a fine twist to the String the Straws activity we did. Very simple fine motor activity for Toddlers & Preschoolers.

What you need

  • Felt colors
  • Silly straws/ Crazy straws
  • Scissors

How to

  • Cut the felt into small squares. You could also do circles.
  • Fold the felt piece into four and cut the edge – to make a hole in the middle. Makes it easier for toddlers. You could also fold into two and just make a slit.
  • Let your LOs push it through the straws.

Miss A(almsot 3 yrs) was able to do it easily. Miss D(21 months) was slow but she was able to do it. I liked the way silly straws hold the felt pieces (theres a spiral in the middle). The felt did not fall off the other side as they are working on one side. And kids had to do both sides to fill the straw with felt. You could do color sorting (match the felt & straw colors), shape sorting (cut felts into different shapes), patterning ( make patterns and let kids repeat them) with this activity. This is one of our favourite busy bag activity 😀

Hence, I've started to explore & create activities to keep them occupied - fun & some learning.. This blog is my maiden attempt where you can find simple crafts and learning activities for kids. If you like my page share it with your friends. Also tell me what you think in the comments. 😀 Thanks for stopping by!!
