DIY Rainbow Felt Links Chain

The Felt Links Chain activity is so cute & perfect to keep lil hands busy. Felt is very economical and easy to craft with. The original felt link activity i found, used buttons. Im not very good at sewing (I know! 😜) and also Miss D is not ready for buttons yet. I planned this activity to suit Miss A(almost 3yrs) & Miss D(21 months) – hence changed it to suit our needs. Found these velcro dots with sticky backs at dollar store. Easy to use for my LOs and also no sewing for mommy -Just peel & stick (Win WinπŸ‘). So simple and solves the purpose. It took about 5 mins for me to set up this activity. πŸ˜€

What you need

  • Different colors Felt – we used rainbow colors
  • Scissors
  • Velcro dots – stick back strip

How to

  • Cut the felt into strips. You could draw lines on the felt, using ruler and pencil and then cut up the marked lines. I dint care too much about it, so just took my scissors and cut it up.πŸ˜‰
  • Each velcro dot comes in pairs. Stick the velcro dots to the ends of each strip on opposite sides.
  • Let your kids stick the strips together to make link chains.

For color recognition activity, use instruction cards- make yellow color link chain or purple color link chain… You could also use it for patterning – 2 green & 1 red or 1 purple, 1 blue & 1 green… The possibilities are endless. This activity develops fine motor skills, creativity & concentration.

You can store the felt pieces in a ziploc bag and its makes a perfect busy bag activity. Your lil ones are busy concentrating on the links so you can have some quiet time wherever you are.πŸ˜€
