Painting with Water – Exploring Colors

Water is always fun. Kids of all ages love to play with it anytime, anywhere. Painting with Water is a fun activity for infants (as early as 6 months), toddlers & preschoolers. This is a great way to introduce kids to the concept of painting and paint brushes without using toxic store bought paints. If your LO is still putting things in mouth, thats totally ok because this is taste safe 😀

What you need

  • Water
  • Food color
  • Paint Brush
  • Thick paper ( we used fingerpaint sheets)

How to

  • Add few drops of desired food color to water. We used primary colors.
  • Give a paint brush to your kids and let them paint using the colored water. Unleash the creativity. 😀

We used this activity to teach colors to Miss D(21 months). We learnt about the colors Red, Yellow, Green and Blue. She also mixed yellow and green color to see a lighter shade of green and was wondering where did yellow go. 😂 She used the brush to paint.. After a while, she sprayed the water from the brush to see the droplets of water, touched it with her fingers to see what happens, tried painting her hands (mine too).. Then spilled water on the mat & helped mommy clean it.. So much learning through such a simple activity..You could do this activity with preschoolers & kindergartners to teach them about mixing colors to make other colors. Simple, Easy & Fun😀 Also this a very easy setup & cleanup activity. It doesn’t stain clothes- Food color washes off easily. (mommy win👍)
